The “Handyman for Seniors” project is being implemented in the Tarnowo Podgórne Commune.
Its goal is to provide free assistance to Seniors 60+ in minor home repairs.
HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?
Help includes simple steps such as:
Electrical: replacement of light bulbs, replacement of broken electrical switches and sockets
Plumbing: replacement of seals in a leaking tap, replacement of knobs, headphones, shower hoses, unclogging the drain, replacement of elements – siphons, hoses, cisterns, replacement of the toilet seat, supplementing leaks in the bathroom with silicone (trays, washbasins, bathtubs)
Locksmith: replacement of handles, locks, bolts, door adjustment
Carpentry: replacement of door hinges, doors, wardrobes, replacement of knobs and handles, gluing or screwing broken chairs, tables, furniture
Fitting: embedding expansion bolts under shelves and cabinets, hanging blinds, curtain rods, mirrors, bathroom dryers; sealing windows and doors
HOW TO REPORT A DEFECT?
If you are aged 60+ and have a Resident Card of the Tarnowo Podgórne Commune
Call: 511 291 841 (Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 16:00)
Present the type of fault to agree on the possibility and scope of assistance.
Accepting the application requires providing contact details, as well as the age and situation of the senior applying for free assistance under the program.
After verification, set a date and time for the repair to be carried out.
The employee has the right to refuse to perform it if he finds on the spot that there is no technical possibility to do so.
The completion of the service will be confirmed in writing – in accordance with the repair protocol.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE VISIT OF THE HANDYMAN AND REPAIR?
The materials needed to complete the work (e.g. a light bulb or silicone) are provided by a senior who wishes to use the program.
The tools (e.g. a drill, a set of keys) necessary to perform the repair are provided by Pałac Jankowice – Tarnów Senior Center – project coordinator.
The Handyman Programme is implemented as part of the Senior Citizenship Policy of the Tarnowo Podgórne Municipality.
The programme is coordinated by the Jankowice Palace – Tarnowskie Centrum Senioralne on the initiative of the Commune Senior Citizens’ Council.
